Finance Executive (Part-Time, 20 Hours Per Week)

About the role

An established professional services business in Brisbane is looking for an experienced finance professional to manage its financial operations on a part-time basis (about 20 hours per week, flexible arrangement). Reporting directly to the CEO, the role combines operational accounting, financial reporting and strategic support, with no direct reports and a hands-on approach.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting, payroll and trust account functions
• Prepare and analyse monthly financial reports
• Monitor cash flow, budgets and financial performance
• Develop annual and half-yearly budgets with senior leadership
• Manage tax reporting and coordinate financial statements and audit requirements
• Liaise with external finance professionals, accountants and auditors
• Support regulatory financial reporting and compliance obligations
• Provide clear financial insights to support business decisions

Required profile

• Experience managing a finance function or working in a senior accounting position
• Ability to work autonomously, take responsibility and build trusted relationships
• Proactive, organised approach and ability to manage competing priorities
• Integrity, discretion and attention to detail
• Experience with trust accounting, financial services, professional services or regulatory reporting is highly regarded

Required skills

• Strong technical accounting skills, including month-end processes, budgeting and financial reporting
• Advanced working knowledge of Xero
• Confidence analysing financial performance and communicating findings to non-finance stakeholders
