Finance Director

About the role

Akcelo is seeking a Finance Director to own the integrity, timeliness and insight of the Group’s financial reporting across a multi‑entity, multi‑currency structure. You will lead a small finance team and be responsible for month‑end close, consolidation, payroll, tax and compliance for entities in Australia, Canada, the US and the UK.

Key responsibilities

• Run month‑end close cycles, produce flash reports and maintain consolidated P&L and balance sheet.
• Consolidate financial results from Canadian and US operations, including foreign‑currency translation and elimination entries.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and perform variance analysis.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cash‑flow modelling and revenue forecasting for the Group.
• Lead payroll processing for ~225 staff across entities and manage tax, superannuation and workers‑comp compliance.
• Manage intercompany reconciliations, group recharges and treasury deliverables.
• Drive process and technology optimisation, including AI‑driven automation of finance workflows.

Required profile

• CA or CPA qualification with a relevant degree.
• Significant senior finance experience in an agency environment, including multi‑entity and multi‑currency consolidation.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge of revenue recognition, accruals, payroll and Australian tax compliance.
• Proven leadership ability to develop and manage a small finance team.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a solution‑focused attitude in a fast‑moving creative business.

Required skills

• Hands‑on proficiency with Xero.
• Experience with job/project management systems (e.g., Productive) and HRIS platforms (advantageous).
