Farm Underwriter – Insurance (Hybrid)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced underwriter to join Elders Insurance, focusing on farm and rural insurance. The role involves assessing new business and renewals, building relationships with agencies, and supporting profitable portfolio growth.

Key responsibilities

• Underwrite new business and renewals across farm and rural insurance risks, delivering quotes in a timely and professional manner.
• Assess and evaluate property, liability and farm‑related exposures in line with underwriting standards.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with agency partners, customers and internal stakeholders.
• Ensure policy documentation, endorsements and underwriting decisions are accurate, compliant and aligned with product and legislative requirements.
• Apply sound judgement to referrals, pricing considerations and portfolio decisions while maintaining underwriting discipline.
• Contribute to team discussions, share market insights and support continuous improvement of farm underwriting practices.

Required profile

• Experience in underwriting, preferably with exposure to farm, rural or commercial insurance portfolios.
• Knowledge of farm insurance products, including property and liability exposures.
• Ability to manage a varied portfolio, adapt to changing priorities and make balanced commercial decisions.
• Strong relationship‑building skills and confidence to work closely with agency partners.
• Solid understanding of underwriting principles, risk assessment and policy documentation in a general insurance environment.
• Excellent communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to build credibility with stakeholders.
