Experienced TBM Operator – Sydney

About the role

Abergeldie is seeking experienced Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) Operators to join its tunnelling team in Sydney. You will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of TBMs on major infrastructure projects, supporting the delivery of critical water, utility and transport assets.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and monitor TBM equipment safely and efficiently.
• Carry out daily inspections, fault finding and basic maintenance activities.
• Monitor tunnelling operations and ground conditions during excavation.
• Collaborate with supervisors, engineers and crew to meet production targets.
• Assist crews with TBM operational tasks, including cutter changes.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental and quality requirements.
• Participate in shutdowns, servicing and maintenance as required.

Required profile

• Proven experience in tunnelling, pipe‑jacking or segmental tunnelling.
• Experience using VMT guidance and AVN systems.
• Strong understanding of underground construction environments.
• Previous work on water‑asset projects is highly regarded.
• Trade qualification desirable.
• Current C Class driver’s licence and WHS Construction Induction Card (White Card).
• Willingness to work rotating rosters, including nights and weekends.
• Commitment to safety and teamwork.
