Experienced Sandblaster – Ongoing Casual

About the role

An established coatings and surface treatment business based in its Wangara workshop is looking for an experienced Sandblaster to start as soon as possible. The role is an ongoing casual position, Monday to Friday day shift, in a busy workshop environment focused on safety, quality and efficient operations.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare surfaces for treatment by removing rust, paint, scale and other contaminants with abrasive blasting equipment
• Set up and safely operate sandblasting and abrasive blasting equipment, selecting and loading the right blasting media
• Inspect surfaces before and after blasting to meet coating specifications
• Mask and protect areas that do not need blasting
• Assist with industrial protective coatings and paint systems as required
• Carry out quality checks on completed work
• Maintain and clean blasting equipment, hoses, nozzles and compressors
• Follow JSA, SWMS and workplace safety procedures, and report faults, hazards and quality issues to supervisors
• Keep the work area clean, safe and organised, and work with painters and trade assistants to meet project deadlines

Required profile

• Previous industrial sandblasting experience is mandatory
• Strong understanding of abrasive blasting equipment and processes, and ability to safely operate and maintain it
• Attention to detail, commitment to quality, and a reliable, safety-focused approach
• Ability to follow JSA, SWMS and safety procedures, and to work as part of a team
• Driver's licence and reliable transport
• Preferred: current forklift licence and previous experience in industrial coatings, painting or surface preparation

What we offer

• Ongoing casual opportunity with consistent Monday to Friday roster
• Day shift hours, 6:00am to 2:00pm/3:00pm, with penalties after 7.6 hours and unpaid breaks
• Pay of $35.00-$50.00 per hour
