Experienced Engineer - Rail & Metro

About the role

SMEC, part of the Surbana Jurong group, is seeking an Experienced Civil Engineer to join its Rail division. The role involves delivering design solutions for multimillion‑dollar rail and metro infrastructure projects across Australia and overseas, while working in a flexible, collaborative environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead civil design delivery on major rail projects.
• Provide design coordination support to the Project Manager and Design Manager.
• Conduct site inspections and field work as required.
• Ensure all analysis and design tasks comply with Australian standards, client requirements, and SMEC quality standards.
• Collaborate proactively with team members, contributors, and stakeholders to maintain quality, timeliness, and coordination of deliverables.
• Apply project management principles to achieve project milestones on schedule.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in civil work design.
• Experience in track, drainage or earthwork design is advantageous.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Good understanding of Australian standards and codes.
