Exercise Physiologist - Mackay

About the role

Proactive Health is recruiting an Exercise Physiologist in Mackay, Queensland, within its local practice led by Hayley Ferguson. The caseload is mixed: steady workers' compensation referrals from the mining and industrial workforce, alongside DVA, NDIS, Medicare EPC and aged care clients. The role suits those who enjoy rehabilitation with a clear goal, in a team of physios, podiatrists, OTs and dietitians.

Key responsibilities

• Run comprehensive assessments including functional testing, health screening and exercise capacity
• Design evidence-based programs for clinic, gym, home and community settings
• Guide workers' compensation clients through graduated return to work rehab
• Manage a mixed caseload across DVA, Medicare EPC, NDIS, Home Care Packages, workers' comp and private clients
• Deliver individual and small group sessions based on clinical need
• Coordinate care with the clinic team, local GPs, case managers and employers
• Keep clinical documentation aligned with ESSA standards and Proactive Health's governance framework

Required profile

• ESSA accreditation as an Accredited Exercise Physiologist, or eligibility for accreditation
• A recognised degree in Exercise Physiology or Clinical Exercise Physiology
• Current professional indemnity insurance, or willingness to obtain it
• Current driver's licence and reliable vehicle for home and community visits
• Current or willing-to-obtain National Police Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check
• Current or willing-to-obtain Queensland Blue Card
• Nice to have: workers' compensation or injury management experience, DVA experience, group exercise programming, and an interest in chronic disease or aged care
• New graduates are welcome; they receive a dedicated mentor and a structured graduate program

Required skills

• Strong assessment, clinical reasoning and program design skills
• Confidence to work independently in the community while staying connected to the team
