ESD Consultant / Engineer

About the role

Award-winning sustainability consultancy dsquared is seeking an ESD engineer/consultant to grow its national team. The firm is carbon neutral and specialises in sustainable, bespoke solutions for clients, with leading experts in Green Star, WELL and NABERS. The role involves managing sustainable building projects, analysing sustainability solutions technically and delivering them for clients.

Key responsibilities

• Manage sustainable building projects
• Carry out technical analysis of sustainability solutions
• Deliver sustainable solutions for clients
• Use building computer simulation to solve problems

Required profile

• Degree-level education in engineering (mechanical or related field)
• 2+ years of experience in a consulting environment (ESD or mechanical services background); role title and responsibilities tailored to experience level
• Detailed understanding of the NCC, especially Section J compliance and JV3 modelling
• Excellent written and verbal communication and organisational skills, able to manage project deliverables on time and on budget
• Passion for problem solving through technical analysis and building simulation

Required skills

• Proficiency in energy modelling software such as IES VE or DesignBuilder
• Advanced Excel skills
• Additional experience viewed favourably: mechanical services design, NABERS and accredited assessor knowledge, Green Star, LEED and WELL, Rhino & Grasshopper (Ladybug Tools), solar PV analysis and net-zero carbon strategies
