Bid Coordinator - Pre-construction Estimator

About the role

A privately owned commercial and industrial builder in Ballarat is looking for a Bid Coordinator for its pre-construction team. The role suits someone who has recently qualified as a carpenter and wants to move off the tools into estimating. You will work on live tenders from day one, with coaching, and take on more packages and whole tenders as you develop.

Key responsibilities

• Review plans and specifications using site knowledge and develop trade scopes
• Call subcontractors and suppliers for pricing and build complete scopes
• Compare quotes by trade and prepare comparison sheets
• Prepare bills of quantities and tender pricing in costing software
• Work with the pre-construction, design and project teams

Required profile

• Carpentry or related trade qualification, ideally recently completed, with site experience
• Able to read plans and specifications and break work into trade scopes
• Confident on the phone chasing and negotiating pricing
• Based in or near Ballarat, working in the Ballarat office 5 days a week
• Desirable: Certificate IV or Diploma of Building and Construction, completed or in progress

Required skills

• Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
• Desirable: estimating or construction software experience
