Environmental Manager for Energy Projects

About the role

Samsung C&T is seeking an experienced Environmental Manager to lead environmental compliance for energy projects in Victoria. You will establish expectations, deliver training, and ensure adherence to statutory approvals across complex multi‑package contracts.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP) and related sub‑plans for gas generation and BESS assets.
• Audit and monitor subcontractors to ensure strict compliance with the CEMP and WA statutory approvals.
• Review subcontractor Environmental Management Systems and provide advisory support for interface risks.
• Conduct environmental risk assessments, site inspections, and compliance audits to mitigate noise, emissions, and hazardous chemical issues.
• Investigate incidents or near‑misses, applying root‑cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Compile and report performance metrics and compliance dashboards to Samsung, APA, and the Owner's Engineer.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Natural Resource Management or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience as an Environmental Advisor on major infrastructure or power generation projects.
• Extensive on‑site delivery experience in Victoria with deep knowledge of local legislation.
• Proven ability to manage environmental compliance across multi‑package subcontracts.

Required skills

• ISO 14001 auditor certification (or equivalent).
• Expertise in developing and executing CEMPs and environmental monitoring programs (air, noise, water).
• Strong knowledge of Victorian environmental legislation and WA statutory approval processes.
• Ability to produce regulatory compliance tracking and reporting dashboards.
