About the role
WSP is expanding its Water Economics, Policy & Strategy team and seeks a Principal Consultant – Economics to influence major infrastructure, policy and investment decisions across Australia’s water sector. You will combine economic expertise with strategic thinking to deliver high‑quality advisory services.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and deliver economic appraisal and advisory projects for water and infrastructure clients.
- Conduct cost‑benefit analysis, economic modelling, business case development and investment prioritisation studies.
- Translate complex economic and technical analysis into clear, practical advice for decision‑makers.
- Manage project delivery, including scope, budgets, commercial performance and client outcomes.
- Support business development, proposal preparation and work‑winning initiatives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with government, utilities and industry clients.
Required profile
- Degree in Economics, Commerce, Finance, Public Policy, Environmental Economics or related discipline.
- Approximately 10+ years of relevant experience in consulting, government, infrastructure, utilities or advisory environments.
- Strong expertise in economic appraisal, cost‑benefit analysis and economic modelling.
- Experience developing business cases, investment assessments, options evaluations or economic impact studies.
- Solid understanding of Australian infrastructure, government or water‑sector investment frameworks.
