Employment & Industrial Relations Lawyer (3+ month contract)

About the role

Elevate is partnering with a leading Australian energy company to secure an experienced Employment & Industrial Relations Lawyer for a 3‑month fixed‑term assignment. The successful candidate will join the in‑house legal team, advising senior stakeholders on complex people‑related matters and supporting the organisation’s compliance and risk management agenda.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic legal advice on employment, industrial relations and workplace relations issues.
• Advise senior leaders on complex people‑related matters, including psychosocial risk and workplace conduct.
• Manage employment‑related disputes, claims and litigation.
• Conduct and support internal investigations and workplace inquiries.
• Offer legal guidance on whistleblower matters and associated risk.
• Partner with HR, People & Culture and business leaders to deliver commercially focused solutions.
• Ensure compliance with relevant employment and workplace legislation.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years post‑qualification experience in employment, industrial or workplace relations law.
• Demonstrated experience managing employment litigation, disputes and claims.
• Proven ability to conduct or advise on workplace investigations.
• Experience advising on whistleblower and workplace conduct issues.
• Commercially focused, pragmatic approach in a fast‑paced corporate environment.
