Emergency Medicine Staff Specialist

About the role

This position is based in a vibrant regional centre in tropical North Queensland, serving a population of over 180,000. The successful candidate will join a strong team of experienced emergency physicians within a supportive multidisciplinary environment that values teaching and clinical excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality emergency medical care to adults, children and families.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team in an accredited Paediatric Emergency Department.
• Participate in and support the hospital’s active ultrasound and simulation programmes.
• Teach and supervise medical trainees, including SSP trainees.
• Contribute to service development in areas such as geriatrics and toxicology.

Required profile

• Fellow of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine or an equivalent qualification.
• Registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist Registration.
• Excellent communication skills and a commitment to optimal patient outcomes.

Required skills

• Proficiency in point‑of‑care ultrasound.
