Medical Receptionist – Full‑time, No Weekends

About the role

The Medical Receptionist is the first point of contact for patients at Mackay Radiology, providing a welcoming and efficient experience while supporting daily clinic operations.

Key responsibilities

• Welcome patients, register them and process documentation.
• Manage incoming calls and respond to enquiries from patients and referrers.
• Schedule appointments using the RIS system (Karisma) and provide preparation instructions.
• Handle fee information, Medicare, DVA and third‑party insurance claims.
• Process EFTPOS and cash payments, and complete end‑of‑day billing and reporting tasks.
• Collaborate with clinical, technical and administration teams to ensure smooth workflow.

Required profile

• Previous experience in medical administration, radiology or a patient‑facing healthcare setting.
• Understanding of medical terminology or willingness to learn.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with RIS scheduling software (Karisma).
• EFTPOS and cash‑handling experience.
• Accurate keyboard and data‑entry abilities.
