Emergency Medicine Consultant – WA Virtual Emergency Department

About the role

We are seeking up to seven full‑time Emergency Medicine Consultants on a fixed‑term basis to join the WA Virtual Emergency Department (WAVED) located at the St John Ambulance WA Operations Centre in Belmont, Perth. The role involves delivering comprehensive clinical care to patients who access emergency services virtually, helping to reduce pressure on hospital emergency departments.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality emergency medical assessment and treatment to patients via the virtual platform.
• Lead clinical decision‑making and ensure patient safety in a remote‑care environment.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external health service providers to coordinate care pathways.
• Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of WAVED clinical protocols.
• Offer clinical expertise and leadership to both internal staff and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Current Fellowship of the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine (FACEM).
• Eligibility to practise medicine in Western Australia.
• Commitment to delivering safe, patient‑centred care in a virtual setting.
