ECC Team Leader – Emergency & Critical Care

About the role

This senior veterinary position leads the Emergency & Critical Care (ECC) team at a leading Melbourne referral hospital. You will shape clinical standards, mentor staff, and drive service growth, with a pathway to Head of Department.

Key responsibilities

• Provide visible leadership and accountability across the emergency team.
• Mentor, coach and develop veterinarians at all career stages.
• Champion clinical excellence, governance and continuous improvement.
• Drive consistency in protocols, patient care and resource utilisation.
• Collaborate with specialist departments to ensure seamless patient care.
• Build a positive, high‑performing team culture and support onboarding and training.
• Lead client communication for complex or escalated cases.
• Identify service improvement opportunities and contribute to strategic growth.

Required profile

• Veterinary registration (or eligibility) in Victoria.
• Strong experience in Emergency & Critical Care.
• Passion for mentoring, coaching and developing others.
• Demonstrated leadership or people‑management experience.
• Excellent communication, collaboration and relationship‑building skills.
• Ability to stay calm, solutions‑focused and decisive in a fast‑paced environment.
