Duty Manager / Team Leader – Canberra Airport

About the role

As a Duty Manager at Canberra Airport you will oversee daily operations of staff and the vehicle fleet, ensuring high standards of customer service, sales performance and vehicle readiness. The role involves coaching front‑line employees, managing vehicle flow in the car park and wash, and maintaining a safe, efficient environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and mentor the shift team through sales coaching and performance feedback.
• Promote Avis Budget products, identify customer needs and achieve sales targets.
• Ensure rental vehicles meet cleanliness, mechanical and road‑worthiness standards.
• Inspect returned vehicles for damage and report findings.
• Maintain service excellence while working under limited supervision.
• Resolve conflicts, handle disciplinary matters and foster a harmonious team culture.
• Create rosters and schedules aligned with business needs.
• Meet Net Promoter Score (NPS) and Client Service Incentive (CSI) targets.
• Participate in recruitment and selection of new staff when required.

Required profile

• Previous supervisory or leadership experience with strong coaching abilities.
• Proven knowledge of customer service and sales techniques.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Understanding of Workplace Health and Safety practices.
• Full driver’s licence and flexibility to work a rotating roster.
