Draftsperson / Building Designer – Residential Projects

About the role

Home Impact is looking for a Draftsperson/Building Designer to support its in‑house design team on residential projects. Working closely with the Design Manager, you will help turn concepts into detailed construction‑ready drawings.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in developing building designs from sketches to detailed technical drawings.
• Produce accurate architectural documentation for approvals and construction.
• Collaborate with engineers, consultants and internal team members to ensure designs are practical and buildable.
• Ensure drawings comply with planning controls, building codes and regulatory requirements.
• Help resolve design challenges while maintaining functionality and aesthetics.
• Review documentation for accuracy and completeness before submission.

Required profile

• Diploma of Building Design or Bachelor of Architecture.
• At least 3 years’ experience in building design or drafting.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Revit (essential).
• Experience with Enscape and AutoCAD (advantageous).
• Knowledge of Development Applications (DA) and Complying Development Certificates (CDC).
• Understanding of the National Construction Code (NCC).
