Diversity and Inclusion Specialist

About the role

The City of Kwinana seeks an experienced Diversity and Inclusion Specialist to lead strategic initiatives across diversity, healthy ageing, volunteering and social wellbeing. This senior position influences policy, builds partnerships and shapes community outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team of two delivering the City’s diversity, inclusion, healthy ageing, volunteering and social wellbeing portfolios.
• Provide strategic direction for frameworks such as the Multicultural Action Plan, Social Wellbeing Framework, Disability Access and Inclusion Plan and Age Friendly Plan.
• Advise senior leaders, elected members and stakeholders on emerging community issues, priorities and risks.
• Build strategic partnerships with government, community organisations, business and sector stakeholders, identifying funding and investment opportunities.
• Represent and advocate for Kwinana in relevant networks and forums.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading strategic community development, diversity, inclusion or social wellbeing initiatives in complex environments.
• Strong strategic thinking, political awareness and ability to provide trusted advice to senior decision‑makers.
• Excellent relationship management, negotiation and advocacy skills.
• Demonstrated ability to secure funding, leverage partnerships and develop staff.
• Tertiary qualifications in community development, social policy or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Current driver’s licence, National Police Clearance and First Aid Certificate.

Required skills

• Knowledge of contemporary issues affecting multicultural and Aboriginal communities, seniors, people with disability and volunteers.
