Director of Power Markets APAC

About the role

The Director of Power Markets, APAC will shape and execute the power market strategy for Lightsource bp across four APAC markets, leading a regional team and influencing revenue optimisation for solar and storage assets.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the regional Power Markets team delivering analytics, origination and optimisation for PV and BESS assets.
• Develop and implement the regional power marketing strategy, balancing contracted and merchant revenue.
• Oversee power market analysis, revenue assumptions and risk management policies.
• Engage with industry bodies, policymakers and market participants as the company’s champion in power markets.
• Collaborate with Development, Structured Finance, Engineering, Construction and Asset Services to manage offtake opportunities.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in Australia’s National Electricity Market (NEM) and utility‑scale renewables.
• Proven track record negotiating complex offtake agreements for solar, wind, hybrid and storage projects.
• Strong risk‑management background, including portfolio optimisation and compliance.
• Leadership experience building and developing multifunctional teams across locations.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of the Australia National Electricity Market (NEM).
• Understanding of Wholesale Electricity Markets (WEM) and other APAC power markets.
• Risk management and portfolio optimisation expertise.
• Energy trading exposure.
