Director, Financial Institutions Group Credit

About the role

ANZ is seeking a Director for the Financial Institutions Group Credit function. In this senior position you will act as the key 2nd‑line credit risk manager for a large portfolio of global banks and Australian non‑bank financial institutions, ensuring risk is managed in line with the bank’s appetite.

Key responsibilities

• Approve credit limits for bank and NBFI customers, ensuring compliance with risk appetite and policies.
• Represent risk in setting and reviewing the stated risk appetite for the Banks portfolio, aligned with ANZ’s growth strategy.
• Provide regulatory guidance, advise on emerging regulatory issues, and support 1st‑line teams in responding to regulator enquiries.
• Deliver training and support to Risk, Relationship Management and Product teams on portfolio changes and initiatives.
• Articulate insights on existing and emerging credit risks, preparing presentations and briefing notes for committees and forums.
• Serve as subject‑matter expert on policies relevant to the Banks portfolio, acting as the first point of contact for Relationship Managers and Markets teams.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in credit risk management for financial institutions.
• Deep knowledge of current events, emerging risks and regulatory requirements affecting banks and NBFIs.
• Proven leadership ability to inspire and develop high‑performance, risk‑aware teams.
• Strong analytical and communication skills for presenting risk insights to senior stakeholders.
