Director, Edge Engineering

About the role

Verra Mobility is creating a new Director, Edge Engineering role in Melbourne to lead the hardware and software engineering capability behind its road safety edge solutions. This senior position will set technical direction, drive product lifecycle, and build engineering performance across international operations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary hardware and software engineering teams across global operations.
• Define technical direction, architecture decisions and engineering roadmaps for Edge products and platforms.
• Improve reliability, performance, security and scalability of deployed technology.
• Strengthen engineering processes, standards and delivery disciplines.
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and ensure robust design, validation and methodology.
• Build engineering capability through workforce planning, coaching and resource allocation.
• Partner with product, operations and business leaders to translate customer needs into technical solutions.
• Manage key engineering vendors and technology partners.

Required profile

• Significant leadership experience in both hardware and software engineering.
• Strong technical judgement across architecture, systems design and product performance.
• Proven ability to build capable engineering teams and develop technical leaders.
• Experience managing technical vendors and external partners.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering or related discipline.
• Experience with distributed, connected, embedded or Edge technology environments.
