Director, Economic Climate Finance

About the role

FTI Consulting is seeking a Director‑level economics practitioner to help grow its Government and Business Economics practice in Australia. The role focuses on climate‑related finance, ESG analysis and policy advisory for state governments and key industry verticals.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver client reports and analyses through independent research and teamwork.
• Support business development targeting state government, climate, mining, transport, water, construction and energy sectors.
• Develop project budgets, proposals and manage client relationships.
• Maintain up‑to‑date client and internal resource records using FTI’s financial systems.
• Stay informed on Australian policy and business environment developments.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Economics or a related discipline; postgraduate qualifications are a plus.
• 6–9+ years of professional experience, preferably in consulting.
• Strong verbal and written communication, analytical ability and attention to detail.
• Willingness to travel to client sites and FTI offices as needed.

Required skills

• Knowledge of AASB S2 and IFRS S2 climate‑related financial disclosure reporting.
• Experience with ESG and sustainability reporting, risk analysis, scenario modelling and climate finance.
• Familiarity with ESG credit scorecards and financial institution ESG assessments.
• Expertise in carbon‑credit markets and structuring green/blue financial instruments.
• Advanced financial modelling, project finance modelling, valuations and funding arrangements.
