DevOps Engineer

About the role

TAFE NSW is recruiting a DevOps Engineer to join an agile development team. The role covers designing and implementing build, release, deployment and configuration activities, working closely with business and Digital Solutions Group staff to turn business requirements into technical solutions that fit the group's strategy and meet enterprise architectural standards. The position is three temporary full-time contracts until 30 June 2027, with a package of $191,363 including base salary of $168,598 per year, employer superannuation contribution and annual leave loading. Location is negotiable across NSW campuses.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement build, release, deployment and configuration activities within an agile development process
• Work with business and Digital Solutions Group staff to analyse and design technical solutions aligned with group strategy and enterprise architecture standards
• Deploy services in public cloud environments such as AWS and Azure with infrastructure and application teams

Required profile

• Degree in a related field or equivalent significant experience
• Experience in Agile teams and collaboration with developers and non-technical stakeholders
• Experience with continuous compliance to build secure applications
• Valid NSW Working with Children Check before starting; eligibility requires Australian citizenship, Australian permanent residency or a New Zealand passport

Required skills

• CI/CD and automation: Bamboo, Bitbucket, Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Jenkins, Splunk, New Relic
• Infrastructure configuration, management and orchestration: Cisco CloudCenter, AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes or Nomad
• Shell scripting and one or more scripting languages such as Python or Ruby
• Network configuration (DNS, routing, security, protocols) and multi-zone load balancing and redundancy
• ServiceNow integration, automation and configuration management
• Preferred: exposure to Dynamics 365 and the Atlassian suite
