Design Manager, Aviation – Building Engineering

About the role

AECOM is seeking an experienced Design Manager with strong aviation background to lead multidisciplinary building engineering teams on complex airport terminal projects. The role can be based in Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne and offers flexible hybrid working arrangements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate design teams across architecture, structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, hydraulics, fire protection, ICT, security and acoustics.
• Drive delivery of airport terminal projects, ensuring integration of building services within operational environments.
• Manage design coordination from concept through detailed design, resolving interfaces and conflicts.
• Provide design leadership, manage risks, technical assurance and stakeholder expectations.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in building engineering, design or construction, with progression to design management.
• Proven delivery of complex multidisciplinary projects, preferably airport terminals.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Solution‑focused approach to design coordination, risk and quality management.
