Deputy Chief Financial Officer

About the role

The Deputy CFO will act as the right‑hand to the CFO, overseeing the financial performance of a fast‑growing Australian energy business. This senior position is responsible for end‑to‑end management reporting, budgeting, forecasting and project financial oversight.

Key responsibilities

• Own the full financial and management reporting cycle, delivering consolidated packs with variance analysis and commentary for local and global stakeholders.
• Lead the annual budgeting and re‑forecasting processes, providing insight and visibility to the Executive team.
• Track portfolio performance after financial close, monitoring returns (EIRR, NPV), lender covenants and internal investment commitments.
• Collaborate with investment and business development teams on transactions, investment papers, financial presentations and RFP responses.
• Manage relationships with external advisers, audit and tax partners, and oversee treasury, cash flow and internal controls.
• Mentor and develop a high‑performing finance team as the business expands.

Required profile

• CA or CPA qualified finance leader with a relevant degree.
• 10+ years of senior corporate finance experience, preferably in infrastructure, energy or other capital‑intensive sectors.
• Proven expertise in management reporting, budgeting, forecasting and project financial performance.
• Strong analytical, commercial judgement and communication skills to engage diverse stakeholders.
• Experience working in global, matrixed organisations is highly regarded.
