Cyber Security Engineer

About the role

This hands‑on Cyber Security Engineer position will shape and harden a Microsoft‑centric environment for a fast‑growing national organisation. You will work directly with the CISO, balancing day‑to‑day security operations with strategic projects.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and continuously improve security controls across Microsoft Entra ID, Defender for Email and Microsoft Purview, covering identity, email and data protection.
• Run daily SecOps tasks, monitor alerts, investigate incidents and rotate on a monthly security‑operations schedule.
• Support security due diligence for newly acquired businesses, including site visits and integration of security platforms.
• Lead projects such as AI governance, identity‑access enhancements and automated detection and response.
• Remediate vulnerabilities identified by scans, penetration tests and audits, and strengthen defences against emerging threats, including AI‑driven attacks.

Required profile

• 5‑10 years of experience in a cyber security engineering role, either in‑house or within an MSP.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
• Proactive learner with a positive, can‑do attitude.

Required skills

• Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) administration.
• Microsoft Defender for Email.
• Microsoft Purview (information protection and governance).
• Azure and Microsoft 365 system administration.
