Customer Service Officer (Permanent Part-Time)

About the role

The City of Darwin is seeking an enthusiastic, people-focused Customer Service Officer for a permanent part-time position (about 0.5 FTE, roughly 18 hours per week) starting early 2027. The role sits in a busy, multi-functional front office where staff handle payments, assist new residents with services and resolve issues quickly. Pay is $77,294.05 per annum plus superannuation pro rata.

Key responsibilities

• Attend to customers promptly, impartially and courteously, taking into account their characteristics, needs and diversity
• Inform customers about the range of services offered by the Council and other agencies and community organisations
• Process payments, permits and complaints efficiently and accurately
• Triage incoming requests and support service request management
• Manage daily customer engagement through reception, telephone and electronic enquiries, request triage, service request management and customer transactions
• Work cooperatively with team members to complete joint tasks

Required profile

• Certificate III in Local Government / Business Administration / Customer Engagement or equivalent qualification and/or experience
• At least two years of experience in a customer service environment
• National Police Records Check
• C Class driver's licence
