Manager Planning & Place

About the role

The City of Darwin is recruiting a Manager Planning & Place based in Darwin, Northern Territory. The position leads and builds on the planning setting for city growth and development projects in line with legislative requirements, City of Darwin policy, processes, approved delegations and values. It manages the Planning and Place team at strategic and operational level, leading development assessment, place-making and city improvement initiatives.

The Planning and Place team responds to planning, development and sign applications and acts as a key interface with external government agencies on city planning, plans and development objectives for the city's activity centres. The manager will lead two direct reports (Planning Coordinator and Projects Officer) and report to the Executive Manager Growth & Economic Development.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in planning, design or a relevant discipline
• At least 5 years' experience in a professional role relevant to planning, placemaking and design
• At least 3 years' experience in an operational leadership or supervisory role
• Valid Class C driver licence
• Ability to obtain a National Police Records Check
• Collaborative leadership with a sound understanding of planning legislation

What we offer

• $140,000 per annum plus 12% superannuation
