Crown Prosecutor – Senior Professional Officer 1

About the role

The Director of Public Prosecutions in Darwin is seeking an experienced criminal lawyer to join as a Crown Prosecutor. You will handle complex prosecutions across the Northern Territory courts and the High Court of Australia.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert legal advice on complex criminal prosecutions.
• Represent the prosecution in jury trials, summary prosecutions, appeals and related matters.
• Develop and advise on prosecution strategy and case preparation.
• Liaise with police, investigative agencies and other stakeholders.

Required profile

• Admission or eligibility for admission as a barrister or solicitor of the High Court of Australia or a State/Territory Supreme Court.
• Demonstrated experience in jury trial and/or appellate advocacy.
• Extensive knowledge of criminal law and court procedures.
• Exceptional communication, interpersonal and analytical abilities.
