Corporate Legal Counsel

About the role

Join one of Australia’s leading private wealth management firms as Corporate Legal Counsel, partnering with senior leaders to provide strategic legal and regulatory advice on key business initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic legal and regulatory advice across financial services, wealth management and corporate matters.
• Support lending and financing activities, including credit, margin lending, mortgage and bespoke client arrangements.
• Review, negotiate and draft commercial agreements, investment management agreements, supplier and technology contracts.
• Advise on regulatory obligations such as AFSL requirements, Corporations Act, AML/CTF, privacy and governance.
• Partner with executives on strategic projects, organisational initiatives and business transformations.
• Support corporate governance, board and committee matters, company secretarial requirements and risk management frameworks.

Required profile

• 10+ years post‑qualification legal experience in a leading law firm, financial institution or both.
• Deep expertise in financial services regulation, including AFSL obligations.
• Experience advising on credit, lending or margin lending matters.
• Strong corporate, commercial and litigation background with ability to deliver pragmatic solutions.
• Outstanding stakeholder management skills and confidence engaging with senior executives.

Required skills

• Knowledge of financial services regulation (AFSL, AML/CTF, privacy).
• Experience drafting and negotiating investment management agreements and complex commercial contracts.
• Ability to manage external counsel relationships and drive commercially practical outcomes.
