Corporate Commercial M&A & Wealth Lawyer

About the role

A prestigious tier 1 corporate law firm is growing its national Private Clients practice and is looking to appoint an experienced lawyer in either Melbourne or Sydney. The role suits a lawyer with a strong private client background, or someone coming from Private Corporate Commercial M&A with solid experience advising on trusts, asset structures, succession and wealth planning. You will work with high-net-worth individuals, families, family-owned businesses and family offices on complex, sensitive and commercially significant matters.

Key responsibilities

• Family office structuring and advisory work
• Acquisitions, disposals and restructures involving privately owned and family businesses
• Private investments and selected corporate/M&A transactions
• Philanthropic structures and charitable initiatives
• Trusts, wealth structuring and asset protection
• Estate and succession planning, intergenerational wealth transfer and family governance and family agreements
• Coordinating broader legal, tax and commercial advice across clients' wider affairs

You will take ownership of matters, work closely with senior practitioners and specialists, and build direct relationships with clients and their advisers.

Required profile

• Ideally 5+ years of post-admission experience in private practice
• Experience in one or more of: Private Clients / Private Wealth, corporate M&A involving private or family-owned businesses, family office advisory, tax, trusts and asset structuring
• Strong technical skills, commercial judgement and excellent drafting ability
• Maturity and discretion to advise on complex and confidential matters
