Corporate Affairs & Sustainability Communications Manager

About the role

Mars Snacking is seeking a senior Corporate Affairs & Sustainability Communications Manager to shape and protect the brand’s reputation across Australia and New Zealand. The role partners with senior leaders, government, industry and external partners to drive strategic communications on sustainability, manufacturing and public affairs.

Key responsibilities

• Own and deliver the external corporate narrative covering sustainability, employer branding, manufacturing and Australian‑made initiatives.
• Develop and execute public affairs strategies on health, environmental and manufacturing policy.
• Build and manage relationships with government bodies, industry associations and advocacy groups.
• Drive thought‑leadership opportunities for senior executives through media, speaking engagements and industry forums.
• Lead media issues management and support crisis and business continuity activities.
• Oversee external agency partners to ensure successful delivery of communications programmes.

Required profile

• A degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or a related field.
• Significant experience in Corporate Affairs, Public Affairs, Government Relations or Strategic Communications, preferably in the food & beverage sector.
• Proven success engaging with government stakeholders at local, state or federal levels.
• Strong media relations, stakeholder management and advocacy experience.
• Experience working on sustainability initiatives such as energy, packaging or agriculture; knowledge of Climate‑Related Financial Disclosure is a plus.
• Excellent judgement, critical thinking and issues‑management capability.
• Ability to influence leaders and stakeholders within a complex, matrixed environment.
