Cook - Cruise Whitsundays

About the role

Cruise Whitsundays, based in Airlie Beach and owned by Journey Beyond, is the largest marine-based tour and transport provider in the Whitsundays, operating 10 well-equipped vessels and a sailing catamaran. It is seeking a passionate, motivated and energetic Cook to join the Catering team on a casual basis. The cook supports the Catering Supervisor and Catering Chef in preparing and delivering high-quality food, helps with day-to-day kitchen operations, and oversees hygiene, cleanliness and safety in food preparation areas.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare menus to ensure high quality and guest satisfaction
• Safely pack food for on-water experiences
• Oversee hygiene, cleanliness and general safety of all staff working in food preparation areas
• Clean the kitchen, storerooms and kitchenware

Required profile

• Flexible to work at various times throughout the day, early mornings or afternoon starts with late finishes, in an off-site catering facility
• Ability to work flexible hours including weekends
• Proven ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
• Excellent communication skills with kitchen staff and on water

Required skills

• Commercial cooking and knife skills
• Commercial cookery qualifications highly regarded
• Valid driver's licence
• HLTAID011 Provide first aid
• HLTAID015 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation and oxygen therapy
• SITHFAB009A - QLD Responsible Service of Alcohol
