Construction Lead (Electrical) – Renewable Power Project

About the role

Join Aggreko as a Construction Lead (Electrical) overseeing the installation, testing and pre‑commissioning of a combined thermal, solar and Battery Energy Storage System at the Eva Copper Mine near Cloncurry. This site‑based position works a 2/1 roster with travel arranged from Brisbane.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee installation, testing and pre‑commissioning of MV/HV switchgear, transformers, generators, control panels, cabling, grounding and lighting systems for thermal, solar and BESS assets.
• Ensure proper integration of solar and BESS electrical systems with the off‑grid thermal plant.
• Interpret electrical schematics, single‑line and wiring diagrams and technical specifications.
• Conduct regular site inspections, hazard mitigation and safety briefings.
• Coordinate tasks, monitor progress and maintain adherence to project schedules.
• Collaborate with project and engineering teams to ensure seamless execution.
• Monitor installation quality and oversee pre‑commissioning checks and functional testing.
• Manage subcontractors across multidisciplinary teams and provide daily progress reports to the Construction Manager.

Required profile

• 10‑15 years experience in industrial installations and supervision, with at least 5 years on high‑voltage power generation projects.
• Proven experience with thermal power plant electrical systems, solar and Battery Energy Storage Systems.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting drawings, schematics and technical documents.
• Strong understanding of testing equipment and procedures.
• Valid Electrician’s Licence and relevant vocational or supervisor training (S1, S2, S3).
• Valid driver’s licence and First Aid certification.
