Construction Lead (Electrical)

About the role

Lead the installation, testing and pre‑commissioning of electrical systems for a combined Thermal, Solar and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) power plant at the Eva Copper Mine near Cloncurry. This site‑based role works a 2/1 roster with travel arranged from Brisbane.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee installation, testing and pre‑commissioning of MV/HV switchgear, transformers, generators, control panels, cabling, grounding and lighting systems for thermal, solar and BESS assets.
• Ensure integration of solar and BESS electrical systems with the off‑grid thermal plant connection.
• Interpret electrical schematics, single‑line diagrams and technical specifications.
• Conduct regular site inspections, hazard mitigation and safety briefings.
• Coordinate tasks, monitor progress against schedules and provide daily reports to the Construction Manager.
• Manage subcontractors across multidisciplinary teams and support commissioning activities.

Required profile

• 10‑15 years of experience in industrial installations and supervision, with at least 5 years on high‑voltage power generation projects.
• Proven experience with thermal power plant electrical systems, solar and BESS projects.
• Valid Electrician’s Licence, vocational or supervisor training (S1, S2, S3), valid driver’s licence and First Aid certification.
