Concrete & Aggregates Laboratory Technician

About the role

Join our Canberra laboratory team as a Concrete & Aggregates Laboratory Technician. Reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor, you will support sampling, testing, and reporting for concrete and quarry products while ensuring compliance with safety and accreditation standards.

Key responsibilities

• Collect concrete and aggregate samples on‑site and prepare them for testing.
• Perform laboratory tests following work instructions, test methods, and preparation manuals.
• Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment as required.
• Observe and enforce statutory safety requirements within the laboratory.
• Execute production and compliance testing according to Inspection and Test Plans.
• Maintain laboratory records and support NATA accreditation requirements.

Required profile

• Experience as a CMT laboratory technician or in a construction‑based trade (desirable).
• Strong commitment to safety and quality.
• Good time‑management and organisational abilities.
• Ability to handle competing priorities and meet deadlines.
• Current driver’s licence; a tool‑of‑trade vehicle is provided.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.
• Knowledge of computer systems for data monitoring and reporting.
• Experience in concrete sampling and aggregates testing.
• Familiarity with Australian and industry standards.
