Competition & Consumer Lawyer

About the role

Join Woolworths Group’s in‑house legal team as a Competition & Consumer Lawyer. You will provide strategic, cost‑effective legal advice across the Group’s diverse businesses, helping to navigate competition and consumer law matters in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Group Counsel and Senior Lawyer with high‑quality, timely competition and consumer law advice.
• Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to deliver efficient legal solutions.
• Partner with external counsel, manage external legal services cost‑effectively, and liaise with regulators such as the ACCC.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, advise on merger clearances, pricing, marketing, contractual matters and regulatory investigations.
• Mentor and supervise junior lawyers, contributing to team capability.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Laws with 2‑4 years post‑qualification experience in competition and regulatory matters.
• Demonstrated expertise in the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 and Australian Consumer Law.
• Ability to manage a large volume of diverse files and prioritize competing demands.
• Strong commercial acumen and analytical skills to develop legal strategies.

Required skills

• Application of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010, including Part IV.
• Experience interfacing with the ACCC or other competition and consumer law regulators.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and drafting abilities.
