Commercial Officer – EWIS Joint & Air SPO

About the role

The Defence Department is seeking an experienced Commercial Officer to support the Electromagnetic Warfare Intelligence Systems (EWIS) Joint & Air SPO programme. This position will provide commercial oversight for acquisition, procurement and contract administration of critical electronic warfare capabilities used by the Australian Defence Force.

Key responsibilities

• Support Defence tender development and evaluation using the ASDEFCON contract suite.
• Assist with procurement planning, documentation and internal approvals.
• Provide commercial and contract management support across acquisition activities.
• Engage with subcontractors, conduct due diligence and manage ongoing relationships.
• Identify, assess and manage commercial risks, opportunities and issues.
• Administer contracts, financial management and ensure procurement compliance.
• Prepare commercial reports and maintain accurate project documentation.
• Collaborate with Defence stakeholders and project teams to deliver commercial outcomes.

Required profile

• Strong commercial management and contract administration experience within Defence.
• Experience supporting Defence acquisition or sustainment programmes.
• Demonstrated understanding of Commonwealth Procurement Rules and Defence procurement processes.
• Experience working with ASDEFCON contracts.
• Excellent written communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Legal qualifications, ITAR/export control knowledge, or financial planning experience are desirable.
