Commercial Manager - Environmental Services

About the role

McMahon Services, a privately owned Australian company in construction, industrial and environmental services, is looking for a Commercial Manager to join its Environmental Services team in Adelaide. The role is the commercial voice on projects, partnering with delivery teams to keep contracts compliant and well managed, and leads and mentors a team of Commercial Advisors while owning the stream's risk register and commercial governance.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the commercial partner for project teams, keeping contracts compliant from tender through to close-out.
• Lead, mentor and inspire a team of Commercial Advisors in commercial and financial management.
• Work with Legal, Finance, Procurement, Tendering and Operations to deliver best-for-business outcomes.
• Own the stream's risk register and commercial governance, resolving variations and disputes early.
• Contribute to the stream's budget, forecasting and financial performance reporting.
• Champion systems and processes and lead change across the stream.

Required profile

• 7+ years in commercial management, including 5+ in construction; commercial management experience in building and construction is a must.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, from site teams to executives and customers.
• Strong contract administration and negotiation skills, with attention to detail on variations, extensions of time and claims.
• Leadership and coaching skills, with a passion for developing people.
• Tertiary qualification in commercial, business, accounting, supply chain or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• A contracting organisation background is highly regarded.
