Commercial Analyst – Procurement

About the role

The Commercial Analyst will join Anglo American's Steelmaking Coal Supply Chain team in Brisbane, supporting end‑to‑end procurement and contract management across key service categories such as equipment hire, facilities management and MRO.

Key responsibilities

• Lead full tender processes – from scope development through market engagement, evaluation, negotiation and contract award.
• Source, review and benchmark supplier quotes for low‑to‑medium risk contracts.
• Negotiate rates and commercial terms, draft contract documentation and secure approvals.
• Manage post‑award activities including amendments, rate reviews and supplier benchmarking.
• Track commercial KPIs (lead times, contract coverage, supplier performance) and address issues proactively.
• Build strong internal stakeholder relationships and support improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Experience in tendering and tactical procurement, preferably within mining or a similar industry.
• Strong attention to detail, proactive mindset and ability to balance stakeholder needs with commercial judgement.
• Current Australian driver’s licence.

Required skills

• Intermediate to advanced Excel (VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables).
• Familiarity with SAP ERP or Ariba procurement systems.
