Clinical Nurse – Prison Healthcare

About the role

The Department of Justice is seeking a Clinical Nurse to join the Health Services team at Casuarina Prison. You will provide culturally safe primary health care and emergency response to adult males in custody, working within a supportive multidisciplinary environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver primary health assessments, treatment and emergency care to inmates.
• Coordinate care, disease prevention, management and health promotion activities.
• Maintain focus on safety, security and rehabilitation objectives.
• Model integrity and respect in all interactions and improve communication across teams.
• Operate within the Department’s governance framework, policies and chain of command.
• Collaborate with colleagues to achieve best practice and support business improvements.

Required profile

• Australian citizen or permanent resident.
• Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
• Motivated, experienced nursing professional able to work in a correctional environment.
