Claims Handler

About the role

Archgroup is seeking a Claims Handler to manage end‑to‑end financial lines and liability claims. The role involves applying legal principles, ensuring regulatory compliance, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to deliver effective claim resolutions.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end caseload of financial lines and liability claims within specified authority limits.
• Apply legal principles to coverage and liability considerations and provide technical support to other handlers.
• Ensure claims are processed according to internal procedures, regulatory requirements (including Lloyd’s), and company reserving philosophy.
• Engage and instruct coverage and defence counsel for both volume and complex claims.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Suggest, recommend and implement process improvements on reporting, claims systems and guidelines.

Required profile

• Law degree preferred.
• Experience in an insurance law firm or in‑house claims team.
• Good working knowledge of the Insurance Contracts Act and related statutory law.
• Strong understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements for claims handling.
• Analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail.
• Excellent organisation, time‑management and interpersonal communication skills.
• Enthusiastic, positive attitude and ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment.
