Claims Consultant

About the role

Marsh is seeking a Claims Consultant for its Adelaide office, working with JLT Risk Solutions, the appointed Scheme Manager to the Local Government Association Mutual Liability Scheme in South Australia. The team handles claims, gives risk advice and supports Local Government members on civil liability matters. The role is hybrid, with at least three days a week in the office.

Key responsibilities

• Handle technical claims administration: gather information, determine claims, prepare correspondence, calculate settlements and process payments
• Support timely claims resolution and risk advice for civil liability matters
• Build and maintain relationships with external and internal stakeholders
• Provide administrative and claims management support to meet service standards and team objectives
• Support onsite client servicing and other ad hoc tasks as required

Required profile

• Well-developed written and verbal communication skills with councils, claimants, lawyers, assessors and others
• Ability to manage claims from start to finish, though experience is not essential as training is provided on the job
• Advocacy, negotiation and analytical skills
• Detail-oriented, able to work independently in a committed team
• Legal qualification preferred but not essential
• Experience supporting local government, civil liability or scheme-based claims, and familiarity with public sector risk advice or claims handling, are a plus
• Applicants must have the right to work in Australia and complete a criminal and bankruptcy check before starting
