Casual Chef - Seniors Community Café

About the role

Anglicare Sydney is looking for a Chef to create exceptional dining experiences for residents, visitors and guests in its Seniors Community. This is a casual position based at Woolooware Shores, Taren Point, with flexible shifts on a rotational roster covering seven days and four evenings per week. It suits chefs with experience in an ala carte environment.

You will oversee the daily operation of the café, prepare high-quality meals, support café functions and work closely with the Food and Beverage Manager to create menus, maintain food quality standards and deliver a positive dining experience.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and present meals, café items and catering orders to a consistently high standard
• Support the planning and delivery of café services and functions
• Help plan menus and update seasonal menus
• Monitor food quality, storage, preparation and handling, and maintain stock levels through participation in stocktakes
• Keep kitchen operations and workflows efficient
• Deliver excellent customer service to residents, visitors and guests and help promote café services
• Work with kitchen, hospitality and village teams to build a positive team culture
• Maintain food safety, hygiene and cleanliness in line with HACCP requirements, follow workplace health and safety policies and keep equipment and workstations safe

Required profile

• Commercial Cookery Certificate or equivalent qualification
• 5+ years of experience in hospitality, catering or food service, including food preparation, kitchen operations and menu planning
• Food Safety Supervisor (FSS) certification and WWCC
• Excellent knowledge of food safety, hygiene and HACCP
• Strong spoken and written English
• Preferred: ala carte restaurant experience, stock control and food cost management, Microsoft Office skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment
