Function Chef – Melbourne Museum

About the role

The Fresh Collective is recruiting Function Chefs for its catering team at Melbourne Museum, one of Melbourne's most iconic cultural institutions. You will help create high-quality food experiences for guests and visitors, from intimate functions to large-scale events. This is a casual position at Level 5 and Level 6, with 30 to 40 hours per week from Monday to Sunday, including evenings and weekends.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and present high-quality dishes for a diverse range of events and functions
• Support smooth kitchen operations from preparation through to service and pack-down
• Work closely with the Head Chef and senior kitchen team to deliver consistently exceptional food
• Maintain the highest standards of food safety, hygiene and quality
• Stay organised and focused in a fast-paced environment

Required profile

• Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent relevant qualification
• At least two years' experience in a professional, high-volume kitchen, function or events environment
• Strong eye for detail, quality and presentation
• Able to work efficiently under pressure and stay organised during busy service periods
• Positive, collaborative attitude and genuine passion for great food
• Valid Australian working rights; citizenship, residency or a full working visa preferred
