Cafe Attendant – Rottnest Express

About the role

Rottnest Express, part of the Journey Beyond Group, operates marine transfers to and from Rottnest Island and offers day tours, extended-stay packages and adventure tours. The Northport Cafe Attendant works alongside the Cafe Supervisor and provides exceptional customer service to guests and visitors in a busy tourism and hospitality setting. The workplace is on site.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver engaging guest experiences and consistent service
• Take and serve customer orders
• Operate the coffee machine and other cafe equipment
• Prepare, present and cook food, and maintain food displays to a high standard
• Assist with cafe menu development and help keep the cafe running smoothly
• Clean the cafe and kitchen work areas as required
• Process customer purchases through the POS system accurately
• Keep tables, chairs and the dining area clean and tidy
• Follow operational procedures and WHS requirements

Required profile

• Passion for creating positive guest experiences and enjoyment of a busy tourism environment
• Team player with a positive can-do attitude
• Flexibility to work part-time to casual hours, including early 6.00am starts, weekends and public holidays
• Demonstrated experience in fast-paced customer service is desirable

Required skills

• Desirable: Responsible Service of Alcohol or Approved Bar Manager certification
• Desirable: Food Handling Certificate, First Aid and CPR, barista training
• Desirable: good understanding of coffee and food preparation and service, and knowledge of WHS, food handling and hygiene requirements
