Business Advisory Accountant

About the role

An established mid-market accounting and advisory firm is looking for a Business Advisory Accountant to join its growing team in Melbourne. It suits someone with a background in business services, tax and compliance who wants to move into more commercially focused advisory work. You will work closely with a Director and senior team members, supporting a diverse client base of entrepreneurial and growing businesses.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare management reports and carry out financial analysis using Xero, MYOB and Reckon.
• Assist with cash flow forecasting, budgeting and financial planning.
• Provide commercial insights and advisory support to help clients improve business performance.
• Build client relationships and contribute to management consulting and corporate governance engagements.
• Prepare BAS, IAS, tax returns and other compliance requirements.
• Support clients with financial reporting and identify ways to improve their operations.
• Work alongside senior team members on advisory projects, with increasing client responsibility over time.

Required profile

• Solid foundation in public practice accounting, with experience in business services, business advisory or tax within public practice.
• A relevant accounting qualification, and studying towards, or looking to complete, a CA or CPA.
• Right to live and work in Australia.

Required skills

• Financial statements, tax compliance and management reporting.
• Xero, MYOB and Reckon.
• Good communication skills and a commercial mindset.
