About the role
The Audit Officer will join a high‑performing Audit, Risk and Integrity team supporting the Attorney‑General’s Department and the Department of Corrections. This full‑time position is based in Darwin and focuses on delivering internal audits that enhance transparency, accountability and governance across government operations.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, execute and report on internal audits and reviews across diverse business areas.
- Develop audit plans, engage stakeholders and maintain clear communication throughout the audit lifecycle.
- Identify risks, control gaps and improvement opportunities, providing actionable recommendations.
- Produce high‑quality working papers and maintain comprehensive audit documentation.
- Support the Risk Management and Audit Committee through secretariat duties, including minute‑taking and tracking audit actions.
- Advise on internal controls, governance frameworks and risk‑management practices.
Required profile
- Demonstrated experience in internal audit, risk, governance or assurance functions.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a critical thinking mindset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of producing clear audit reports.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
- Effective time‑management skills with a proven track record of meeting deadlines.
