Associate or Senior Associate – Public Law Litigation

About the role

Hall & Wilcox is seeking an experienced Associate or junior Senior Associate to join its Dispute Resolution – Public Law team in Sydney. You will work alongside senior partners and a Special Counsel on complex public law litigation for government clients.

Key responsibilities

• Represent state and Commonwealth government agencies in administrative and public law matters, including judicial review and complex litigation.
• Run subpoena objections, appear in courts and tribunals across NSW, and handle Standing Order 52 requests.
• Provide advice to government departments and, where applicable, the NSW Police Force.

Required profile

• 2‑6 years post‑admission experience in administrative/public law and litigation.
• Experience advising Commonwealth and/or NSW government agencies.
• Strong communication, drafting, negotiation and advocacy skills.
• Ability to manage a busy workload with competing deadlines.

Required skills

• Experience with public law litigation processes and courtroom advocacy.
